Agoura Hills


The City of Agoura Hills is located 40 miles North West of downtown Los Angeles in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. There is something for everyone is Agoura Hills. There are plenty of equestrian, bicycling, and jogging trails. There is also plenty of culture and shopping.

 

Visit the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, or call (818) 880-2993. There are many social, recreational, and cultural activities and programs available. At the Community Center there is a fitness studio, banquet hall, basketball courts, and even a rock climbing wall.

 

Take the entire family for a picnic at one of the 6 breathtaking parks: Forest Cove Park, Chumash Park, Morrison Park, Old Agoura Park, Reyes Adobe Park, and Sumac Park.

Don’t forget to check out the Historical Reyes Adobe home built in approximately 1850. It is truly a beautiful home and a look into our early settlers lives. They offer guided tours, group interactive exhibits, and special events. Call (818) 597-7361.

 

Take a trip to the Agoura Hills Recreational Center. The Center offers a wide variety of classes and programs for all age groups. You may also want to rent the facility for a private function. (818) 597-7361

Newbury Park


Newbury Park is a quaint community located at the top of the Conejo grade neighboring Thousand Oaks and Camarillo. Newbury Park is the western region of the City of Thousand Oaks. The population has increased tremendously over the past years due to the biotechnology firm Amgen.

 

Visit the Historic Stagecoach Inn, for a look into Newbury Park’s past. Check out the local library, to pick up a great book. Newbury Park has the feel of a small town, yet it has all of the amenities of a large town.

 

Contact the Conejo Recreation and Parks District for a list of local parks, and information on what their facilities have to offer. If you feel the need for a swim on a warm summer day visit the Newbury Park Pool (805) 498-6906. 

 

How about going for a hike? There are many great hiking trails to explore. Try Sycamore Canyon Falls, a beautiful hike with a view of Bony Mountain, Waterfall, and deep canyon walls. Contact the Santa Monica Recreation Area for additional information. (805) 370-2300. The hike is five miles round trip and fairly easy for an average hiker.

 

If you feel the need to leave town for an evening, many great cities are less than an hour away. Take a drive to Santa Barbara or Santa Monica both less than one hour’s distance.

Oak Park


Oak Park is a beautiful community located to the North of the Los Angeles County Community of Agoura Hills, and is East of the Westklake Village community in Thousand Oaks. It is really a beautiful town and is a great place to raise a family.

 

Visit the Oak Park Library for weekly pre-school story time. They have stories, songs, crafts and games. Call (818) 889-2239.

 

Oak Park has many beautiful parks to enjoy with lots of amenities. Part of the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District is Deerhill Park, 6700 Doubletree Road. This park has over 12 acres to enjoy with tennis courts, a play area for the kids, restrooms, a softball field, and a basketball court. There are also golf courses, parks and classes for the entire family all year round!

Thousand Oaks


Thousand Oaks has the best of worlds with the mountains close by and the beach only 12 short miles away. Thousand Oaks is truly a family oriented city with many things to do and see!

 

If you are in the mood for entertainment visit the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Where many talented musicians, speakers, theatre productions and children’s shows perform.

 

For a look back into local history visit the Chumash Interpretive Center Ranch and learn about the Indians that lived here many years ago. Call for hours: (805) 492-8076.

 

The Thousand Oaks Community Center offers a wide range of programs for tots up through seniors citizens, also racquetball court reservations. Call at (805) 381-2793. There are many parks and facilities in the Conejo Recreation and Parks District

 

Visit the Alex Fiore Thousand Oaks Teen Center, or call (805) 494-5156 for classes, workshops, excursions, dances, camps, and special events just for teens.

 

If you are in the mood for some shopping visit The Oaks Mall. The Oaks has many great shops to browse along with a play area and entertainment for small children. (805) 492-8076.

 

Check out the Thousand Oaks Library or call (805) 449-2660 for some great books and weekly story times. On a warm summer day take a swim at the Thousand Oaks Pool. Westlake Village


Westlake Village is settled on the Western edge of Los Angeles County. It is only 9 miles inland from the beach and 38 miles west of downtown Los Angeles. Westlake Village is a very safe community, and has one of the lowest crime rates in the nation.

 

There is so much to do in this great community, including the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreational Area. Call the Visitor Center for more information at (805) 370-2301. A few of these activities are hiking, mountain biking, camping, horseback riding, and of course picnicking! You may also want to fish, golf, swim, or go for a boat ride at Westlake Lake. The 150 acre lake is stocked with blue gill, bass, and catfish. It is truly a beautiful lake for all ages to enjoy.

 

Contact the Conejo Parks and Rec District to find that perfect park for you and your family to enjoy. There are 5 parks in Westlake Village to choose from: Canyon Oaks, Russell Ranch, Foxfield Park, Three Springs and Berniece Bennett Park.
